It has been observed that due to a stressful lifestyle and irregularities in food habits in present times, the number of diabetic patients is alarming. According to Ayurveda, diabetes mellitus occurs due to vitiated chyle, blood, flesh, fat, and other bodily tissues, along with an imbalance of the three doshas (wind, heat, and phlegm). Therefore, effective treatment of diabetes is only possible when the root pathogenesis is targeted. Jambrose (possibly Jamun or Syzygium cumini) is a combination that regulates the pathogenic humors and body tissues; hence, it has been proven useful in reducing blood and urine glucose levels in non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus.
